Keep the first plan simple

Choose one or two priorities for the visit. Trying to cover every possible task on day one can feel rushed. A simple plan leaves time to explain preferences and build a comfortable working rhythm.

Share the details that matter

Small details often make support feel genuinely personal.

  • Preferred name and communication style
  • Usual routines and how the person likes tasks completed
  • Mobility, access or safety information
  • Allergies and documented dietary needs
  • Key contacts and what to do if plans change

Make the home easy to access

Confirm the address, parking instructions, entry point and whether there are pets at the property. Place any supplies needed for agreed tasks where they are easy to find.

Allow time for feedback

After the visit, ask the client what felt comfortable and whether anything should change next time. Good support develops through clear, respectful communication between the client, family, worker and office team.
